Dubai Marina

Located out of Dubai past the Palm going towards Jebel Ali. Built along a two-mile stretch of waterfront, this man-made marina has created a complete waterfront community with apartment towers and villas set against a watery backdrop. The development itself is as big as a medium sized UK/US town accommodating more than 120,000 people. With public walkways, loads of great restaurants and cafés, plus yachting, fishing and a beach on the doorstep, coupled with a vibrant nightlife, it's a great environment that can be split into two specific areas:

  • JBR Walk, a recently opened area by the sea with plenty of shops and great places to eat. It’s right next to the beach so you can wander across from the beach at lunch time. Lovely and busy with good vibes in the evening.
  • Marina Walk - the promenade area right in the marina itself which is surrounded by tower blocks. It’s an amazing, almost futuristic and surreal place especially at night when everything is lit up – again loads of shops and restaurants, and only 300 yards from the Marina Metro station.

Musandam Trip

For a fun day out, a weekend getaway or a week-long holiday within a holiday go the Musandam Peninsula in nearby Oman (take your passport) with www.sheesabeach.com where you can enjoy a relaxing dhow cruise with snorkelling, fishing, swimming and scuba diving. The Musandam is a stunning remote location, ideal for a relaxing break or an adventurous escape. Take a two-day dhow cruise (groups of up to 18 people welcome) and it'll likely turn into a 48-hour party. Alternatively have a new Dive experience or try remote camping on a secluded beach. It's all possible with Sheesabeach. Tel: 02 638 6551

One of Dubai's foremost tourist attractions the Wild Wadi waterpark is designed around a tale from Arabian Folklore featuring Juha and his seafaring friend, Sinbad. Try the Jumeirah Sceirah with a terrifying 32 meter, 50 mph drop, the biggest waterslide (120 metres) outside North America. Or what about the Whitewater Wadi which connects to 13 water slides or the rough and tumble Flood River Flyer, which has 6 slides and is recommended for strong swimmers only. A hidden gem is Breakers Bay where you can surf in continuous waves, and let's not forget Tantrum Alley and Burj Surj. The park has two entrances, the main one being by the Burj Al Arab Causeway, the other is for Jumeirah resort guests only. Pick up free body boards and rent your towels at a special counter. Lockers can also be rented. See www.wildwadi.com. Tel : 348 4444
